You don’t know what you don’t know.
I have lived my life in 3 distinct geographical scopes in pursuit of maximizing freedom, opportunity and prosperity:
18 years → Jharkhand → Level: State
08 years → India → Level: Nation
08 years → World → Level: Global
Personally going through these step changes is the only way a person sees how different are these perspective paradigms, despite having an understanding in theory.
If we take GDP / capita as a coarse metric for primary bases during each phase, Ranchi → Mumbai → Amsterdam, proportional step sizes would be 1 : 8 : 54
Towards end of 2023, as I started considering moving base one more time, it made sense to re-assess the state of affairs by doing a hands-on deep dive again as I have been a visitor for a while without directly doing things on the ground.
So in the past 6 months, I’ve been back in India developing local physical businesses in my home state, spending time in different cities among locals, catching up with acquaintances offline and intellectual discourse of the nation online.
In the post-Jio India, a batch of fresh ideas are surfacing to create a narrative around idea of Bharat, Civilization history and it’s economic might on the global stage.
As usual, listening to reasoned cases for pro and anti stance and matching them to direct lived experience is the way to make sense of things and switching between an outsider and insider perspective brings clarity to the fullness of complex reality.
Here is a list of select digital resources that I have found useful for that:
